Although we at DCH Gardena Honda do luv our friends at Honda UK we couldnt help feeling a few pangs of jealousy when saw the limited edition Civic they will soon have their hands on! Inspired by this season’s Honda Racing British Touring Car racer the Honda Civic Ti, the model is based on the 1.4 and 1.8 i-VTEC SE variants and comes with matte-black 17-inch ‘Pro Race’ wheels from Team Dynamics, Honda’s ‘GP’ body kit finished in Crystal Black and exclusive Premium White Pearl body paint and body colored trim. It also gets a race-like GP kit that includes front spoiler, rear spoiler, side skirt inserts and rear body skirts. On the inside, the Honda Civic Ti gets a state-of-the-art Pioneer Navigation Multimedia System, which offers full-scale navigation, entertainment and communication with a 3D graphic touchscreen. Sounds like one sweet ride, or rather 500 because they will only build 500 of this sweet lil pocket rocket! If a trip 'cross the pond wasnt in your plans thats ok, we have a great selection of the Civic here at DCH Gardena Honda and no reservations are necessary! Read more about the Civic Ti HERE.

AT first glance some of us here at DCH Gardena Honda guessed that it was an early edition Civic! The vehicle pictured here is actually the first Accord! Now 35 yearsl old we thought we would show you where it all began way back in 1976. One of our favorite Honda Heritage site is This Old Honda and they have some great info on the early Accord. Here is a taste: “The 1976 Accord was powered by a 1.6 liter inline-4 with 68 horsepower. Transmission choices were: a full-synchromesh (except for reverse) 5-speed Manual or a 2-speed semi-automatic. Hatchback bodystyle only. The original fuel economy was 46 mpg highway.” Yes you read that correctly, 46 mpg! Honda really HAS always been the mileage company! During the half time break of today's game (but WE weren't watching the game here at DCH Gardena Honda boss!) the subject of Honda history was being discussed at length. After a long lecture, we LUV to talk(!) one of the staff mentioned that we should blog about early Honda cars soooooo..... Sunday will now be officially known as Honda Heritage Day here at the Honda Hangout! It seems only fitting that we start this weekly post at the beginning! Pictured here is the quite amazing little Honda S360, the very first Honda. "The Honda S360 prototype, revealed at the 1962 Tokyo Motor Show. It’s pretty much the first car that Honda ever built." The S360 quickly evolved into the S500 and has a spec sheet that would make todays gear heads tear up! Take a look at these impressive facts. "Initially introduced with a 492cc engine, the specifications read like those from a Formula 1 race car; double overhead camshafts, four carburetors, a needle roller bearing crankshaft, and a 9,500 rpm redline. A four speed transmission (with synchro-mesh on the top three gears) was utilized. Final drive was by oil bath chains to the rear wheels. Four wheel independent suspension was achieved using torsion bars in the front, and diagonally attaching coil-over-shock strut units to the rear of each chain case" If you ever doubted that the heart of Honda lives on the track, doubt no more! The sport car heritage lives on in each Honda delivered to this day. Read more on the S360/S500 history HERE and see some great pics of some really nice restored editions HERE! In January, Honda sold 14,873 Fit compacts in Japan, with Toyota selling just 13,711 Prius hybrids. With sales here in the States growing at the rate they are it wont be long before the Fit contends for the best selling sub-compact here too! Do you remember the first CVCC, or as it became the, the Civic way back in 1973? Here at DCH Gardena Honda we sure do! Well, that is to say SOME of us do! Well so does Honda and announced the start of a whole new clothing line commemorating the early years.  From the official press release: "Today, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., launched the Honda Heritage Clothing Collection at an exclusive event in downtown Los Angeles. The collection consists of iconic Honda apparel designs from the early 1970s and action sportswear of the 1980s. Re-imagined, designed and produced in Southern California, select items from the collection are now available for sale online at www.lockerloop.com. Additional designs and items will be introduced in the near future and are set to go on sale in late spring 2011."
We'll allow the word 'retro' however we kind like the Honda Heritage term! Check out the first pieces of this new collection HERE. To see where that heritage has evolved and to take part of Honda's continued growth for your self stop into DCH Gardena Honda today.
