Well, kinda... actually not so much that I am always right per say... more like that the things I have said, at least some of them are indeed correct. The Detroit News today confirmed the soon to start production of the new CUV to be inserted into the Honda model line just between the CR-V and the Pilot. Tomorrow on July 11th, Honda will celebrate fifty, thats 50, years of selling vehicles here in the USA, and to commemorate they have built a replica of the first American showroom inside the US headquarter building in Torrance, CA. Of course Honda began its amazing legacy with the Honda Cub motorcycle and also with a whole lot against them. There were lots of still lingering emotions leftover from a war not all that long over in addition to the perception that motorcycles were ridden by leather jacket wearing Brando wanna be's, to over come that early perception Honda even had the tag line, "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" ! Way too many milestones in the last 50 years to list here but of course the Honda site has a great history over here, take a minute and check it out. My friends over at the ole Jalopnik have a great shot of the replica showroom over here, which is where I got the idea for this whole thing!

In the world outside of Indy Car Racing Honda had a great weekend (remember all Indy Cars are powered by Honda so every IRL race is good for them!), taking top honors at home in Japan with another unbeatable performance in FIM Trials racing. Toni Bou and his Repsol Montesa HRC thrilled the hometown crowd with gravity defying acts of motorized wonder as he balanced over boulders and crossed unimaginable spaces making it look easy as he cruised to his double wins and widen his lead to 19 points. Quite literally on the other side of the world in France Clement Desalle piloted his CRF450R across a rain soaked course wrought with problems to a strong fifth place finish in Moto Cross action. Super Bike and Moto GP took a well deserved break this weekend but will be back out on the tracks next week. In Indy Car, sigh... that Dancing With The Stars dude won again and no I dont remember his name, and no its not unfair that I only write a full race report win Danica wins! For the record, Danica finished in 6th and is still very strong in the overall points running so there! The race was down in Texas on Saturday, full details over here.

Today Honda began the celebration of its fifty years in motorsports with the launch of a cool mico-site posted at the corp main site. The history of Honda as a company is actually pretty fascinating although much to long for this lil blurb, its pretty cool how Mr. Honda set his sites on winning the World Moto Gran Prix after watching the racing action at the Isle of Man TT race and within 5 years of his 'Declaration' his motorcycles had indeed been crowned as the best.  The past fifty have seen Honda dominate in every form of motorsport they enter, this past weekend being no different! In the series they started with Honda placed a 4th in the Italian Gran Prix, in Super Bike racing Honda riders placed strong 2nd place finishes in both races and Great Britain was the scene of an awesome 3rd place Moto Cross showing. Of course Honda continues to own the FIM Trials series with a victory last week, also in Great Britain. From Indy Cars to side cars, Moto Cross to Moto Gran Prix, if there is an engine pushing a vehicle to speed chances are the best of the best are Honda powered! Spend a few minutes reading up on the Honda racing heritage, trust me its bitchen!
